Ophthalmic solutions include a range of products with different functions such as cleaning, disinfecting and lubricating the eyes in the form of eye drops, or rinsing and storing of contact lenses.
All ophthalmic products must meet a number of safety requirements, including a certification of sterility. Sterility is the absence of microbial contamination which could cause eye infections, possibly leading to severe consequences.
Filtration is typically conducted in the final stage where the finished product is passed through a membrane filter during bottling. The membrane filter has to meet regulatory requirements for bacterial retention, as well as industry specifications for cleanliness, chemical compatibility, process efficiency and reliability. The ZTEC™ P Series Filter Cartridges (Pleated Polyethersulfone (PES) Membrane for Sterile Filtration) is suited for the filtration of ophthalmic solutions:
Validated, sterilizing grade, polyethersulfone membrane filter cartridges. Absolute retention from 0.1 to 0.65 micron
Meets ASTM Standards for Sterility
Lab validated bacterial retention performance
Repeatably Steamable/Sanitizable
Pore size, lot and serial number are stamped on each filter element for identification and traceability
Consistent, reliable removal of contaminants and microorganism
Meets USP Class VI biological test for plastics
100% manufactured, flushed, and integrity tested in ISO Class 7 cleanroom
